Safari might be the default browser on macOS, but this doesn’t stop Mac users from using the Google Chrome browser. Using the Chrome plugin called 'The Great Suspender' helps quite a bit, especially with keeping CPU use down, but it doesn't completely solve the unresponsiveness issue. To change the DNS address on Mac follow the path System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS. To disable Chrome extensions the simple way: Click on the Extensions tab in CleanMyMac. To save the changes you have made, click “Done”. I isolated the issue to Chrome and uninstalled Chrome.
Separately, a product manager on Chromium’s Bug page said that they don’t believe it to be a Chrome … Incognito mode.
